Kappa Tau Epsilon

Kappa Tau Epsilon was founded on March 20, 1986, and received their charter on December 4, 1986.

As for KTE's crest, the three gold rings symbolized the ideals of love, unity, and friendship interlocking to form sisterhood. The colors were pink and black, with the pink symbolizing our femininity as women and the black representing the strength in which our bonds within the sorority were formed. The KTE mascot was the white seal; the flower was the pink carnation and the sorority jewel was an opal. An opal was chosen to represent the many diversified personalities of the sisters just like the diverse coloring within the stone.

KTE tradition included referring to officers by authentic Greek titles. Although KTE will always remain in the hearts of its sisters, in the fall of 1991, they merged with Delta Rho and went on to later form what is known today as Alpha Phi.

Delta Rho

Delta Rho sorority had its beginning in the Spring of 1968. Together, fourteen sisters and two advisors wrote up a constitution that was officially accepted by the Student Association on April 1, 1968. Delta Rho colors are yellow and navy blue, and the flower is the yellow chrysanthemum.

The Delta Rho crest was designed in the winter term of 1969. The Delta Rho shield is a diamond shape with the Greek letters 'delta' and 'rho' inside. The shield was placed in the middle of the crest. The crest also contains a circle with a lightning rod symbolizing frienship, as well as the sorority flower. The phrase "Sisters in Service" is written around the shield and states one of the goals of Delta Rho. The sorority motto "Honest, Truth, and Loyalty," is written across the bottom of the crest.

Two Delta Rho philanthropy traditions that continue to this day are the annual Turkey Bowl and Daffodil Days.

Delta Rho decided to merge with KTE in fall of 1992. The last Delta Rho pledge class was initiated in spring of 1991.

Delta Tau

Delta Tau came to be through the merger of Kappa Tau Epsilon and Delta Rho. The crest was designed in the fall of 1991. It entailed a diamond with the letters "delta" and "tau" in the middle. Surrounding the diamond were the words "Loyalty, Unity, Friendship" with a seal to the left and the sorority flower, a carnation. At the base of the diamond were three rings.

On December 2, 199`, the sisters of Delta Tau found out they had been accepted to Alpha Phi and began colonization in January of 1992.

Alpha Phi

Alpha Phi took their first pledge class in the spring of 1992. These women worked to become the bridge between Delta Rho, Kappa Tau Epsilon, and Delta Tau.

Alpha Phi was installed at Shippensburg University as Theta Xi chapter on April 11, 1992.
