Our Chapter: Theta Xi
Ivy divider

The Theta Xi chapter of Alpha Phi was founded in 1992 at Shippensburg University. We pride ourselves in philanthropy, community, social events, and most importantly our sisterhood. Today, we are 43 strong and growing.

Theta Xi means friendship, pride, excellence, and charisma. We are an enthusiastic group of women who proudly contribute to the Greek Community at Shippensburg University. We are both sisters and friends. We believe in each other and we believe in ourselvesimagesimageswe believe in Alpha Phi.

We are pleased that you have visited the Theta Xi website! Please come again!

Scholarship

Alpha Phi has always reached for excellence in scholarship. In fact, the Theta Xi chapter has been recognized for having the highest chapter G.P.A. for both Spring and Fall of 2008 and highest New Member G.P.A. for both Spring and Fall of 2008, as well as capturing the same title for many years prior. As you can see, there is a long-standing tradition of excellence in all academic endeavors for the sisters. Our fraternity works hard to provide the support each member needs to excel academically.

Social

The SU Alpha Phis always have something going on; date parties, mixers, formals, banquets, sisterhood events (retreats, sister dinners, Winter and Spring Break get-aways, barbecues, camping trips, etc.). We hold social events with other fraternities and sororities such as mixers and dinners, as well.

Our members can be found in almost every campus group - from intramurals to Homecoming Court, SU Theatre to lacrosse, Student Senate to the Pan Hellenic Council. You name it, you'll most likely find at least one of us doing it!

Service

We participate in several events each year in order to raise funds for our philanthropy. These events include selling daffodils for the American Cancer Society on Daffodil Days in March, organizing a yearly football game between campus sororities (Turkey Bowl), and also supporting many organizations and causes throughout Cumberland County.

Since 1946, Alpha Phi has focused on heart disease and cardiac care as a philanthropic priority. Today, research into the diagnosis and treatment of women's heart disease is a special interest of the Alpha Phi Foundation. Gender differences in diagnosing and treating cardiac health problems are becoming widely recognized, and donors can make a difference for thousands of women through gifts to the Alpha Phi Foundation.

Awards & Honors

With the timeless tradition of academic excellence in our chapter, it is no surprise that Alpha Phi has garnered many awards for scholarship including: Highest Greek Organization G.P.A. (Spring and Fall of 2008, and many years prior). Alpha Phi was voted "Best Student Organization" in Spring 2002 and has won the "Excellence in Community Service" award for multiple years in a row.  Theta Xi won the Excellence in Community Service Award in 2008, and awards in 2006 as well. On top of those honors, our chapter was named Greek Week Champion for the 3rd year in a row in Spring 2002!
