The Shippensburg University art department has their own magazine, Visivo, Italian for visual. Students work on all aspects of this magazine from the theme to the design, photography and printing. Creating Visivo is a unique and important "real life" experience in the development of student graphic designers.

Students involved in this club write, photograph, design and edit a four-color magazine that is printed and distributed throughout the university each year. Students learn a tremendous amount about all aspects of magazine production.

Past Visivo articles include profiles of various senior art majors who have shown outstanding achievement in a specific visual arts field. The publication is designed and produced entirely by a team of student designers.

Student Art League

The Gallery Director calls upon this group of students to design and hang exhibitions. He also trains them as docents for each exhibition and they take turns sitting in the Kauffman Gallery during exhibition hours to answer questions asked by visitors. Currently advised by Professor Dolbin.

Art Exhibitions Committee

In this club students meet on a regular basis to make art, look at art, create art, and critique their own work. Students may travel to exhibitions in surrounding communities as well as bring in guest artists for workshops. Currently advised by Professor Culbertson.

This club was established this year and students made a presentation at the annual Fall Conference held in 2005 at Penn State University in State College. Through their membership, students also become members to PAEA, the state chapter of NAEA. Students make excellent contacts and find important resources by attending meetings and conferences. Several student teachers will be attending and participating in a juried presentation at the 2006 national conference being held in Chicago, Illinois. Currently advised by Professor Moilanen.
