S.U. SIFE Team Wins at Regional Competition
SIFE 2006-2007 (Shippensburg, PA) April 2, 2007 The Shippensburg University SIFE (Students In Free Enterprise) Team returned to Shippensburg as winners after participating in the Philadelphia SIFE USA Regional Competition on March 30. The event was one of 17 SIFE USA Regional Competitions being held across the United States in March and April. Teams from 37 different colleges and universities competed in the Philadelphia Regional Competition. Shippensburg University is one of 145 teams invited to the National Competition and will competing against teams from institutions such as the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Indiana University-Bloomington, Pepperdine University, Syracuse University, Carnegie-Mellon University, the University of Alabama, the University of Miami, and others. Shippensburg University will be the only SIFE team from the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education represented at the national competition. (details)

SHRM places 2nd at Regional HR Games
Ship takes 2nd place at regional HR Games Shippensburg University’s Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) Student Chapter members, Dave Wilderman, Amanda Wiler, Jason Sisock, and Jordan Taglialatela, traveled to Rutgers University in Piscataway, NJ, to participate in the 2007 SHRM Northeast Regional HR Games on March 30th & 31st 2007. Shippensburg University placed second in a competition that attracted 20 student teams from 18 different colleges and universities.  This is an event designed to foster friendly competition between universities and provide a positive and exciting way to prepare students for the human resource profession and the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification exam conducted by the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI). The group was accompanied by their chapter advisor, Dr. Vicki Taylor.

National Association of Purchasing Managers Scholarship

2006 National Assoc of Purchasing Managers Scholarship
Allison Shirley, junior Supply Chain Management major was recently named recipient of the 2006 National Association of Purchasing Managers Scholarship. Allison's hometown is Enola, PA.

SHRM Award

The university's Human Resource Management Club has received an Honorable Mention Merit Chapter designation from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) for its outstanding job of providing opportunities for growth and development to its members.

The club received an award citation on display in Grove Hall. In addition, the university was recognized in SHRM's publications and at the SHRM National Conference in Washington, D.C. SHRM is the world's largest association devoted to human resource management.

The club was recognized for its monthly program meetings held during the academic year and led by professional human resource management; the club's participation in HR Games, and the development of a Chapter Resume Book.

Spring 2006

Students to Attend CSCMP Conference

Each year the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) selects college students from the South Central Pennsylvania area to send to their national conference, all expenses paid. This year senior Supply Chain Management majors, Patrick Manning and Ashley Hess, and Marketing and General Management major, Terra Zimmerman were selected to attend the national conference held in San Diego, California.

Patrick's hometown is Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Terra is also from Carlisle, and Ashley’s hometown is Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
