Profile I am one of the department's newer faculty members and I started at Shippensburg in August of 2005 after completing my Ph.D. in Geography at the University of Maryland. Much of my research to date has focused on land use and land cover change issues in the Mid-Atlantic states, with a particular focus on urbanization in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. I am also pursuing research topics related to land use change in and around National Parks, on Cape Cod and the islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket in Massachusetts, and in the southeastern states. My research is applications-oriented, and often has direct links to current planning problems. I came to Shippensburg University because I enjoy teaching and mentoring, and whenever possible I incorporate aspects of my research into the classroom. I feel this provides students with a sense of the relevancy of geographic approaches. I am a broadly trained geographer and I emphasize interdisciplinary approaches that incorporate social, biophysical, and technological disciplines. Please use the navigation tabs at the top and bottom of these pages to see more information about the courses I teach and my research activities.
