The Newman Association

The Newman Association is the campus student-run organization of Catholic Campus Ministry. The purposes of the Newman Association are:

  1. To provide an environment in which the Catholics of the SU community can practice their faith through religious activities.
  2. To form unity through social activities so that intellectual, moral, and spiritual growth may follow.
  3. To serve its members and others in the community by providing various programs.
  4. To support Catholic Campus Ministry as students on campus.
The Executive Board is a group of student leaders who plan and direct activities sponsored by the Newman Association and Catholic Campus Ministry. This is an excellent way to get involved and show off or develop your leadership skills. All are welcome!

Father Dave

Worship with Fr. David Hillier

Students, along with joining the parish community at Our Lady of the Visitation Church or, joining fellow students for the 8:00 PM Sunday night mass at Campus, you may want to consider volunteering for a liturgical ministry.

Special Ministers of the Eucharist distribute Communion at Sunday Mass and special liturgies. The Choir and Musicians enhance our prayer together, by playing an instrument or singing. Lectors read the Word of God on Sunday and at special liturgies.

Fr. Dave Hillier is here for you at anytime. Call the rectory at (717) 532-2912 or e-mail him at: dahillier@ship.edu

For Mass and Special Service times and location information please refer to the Worship section of our Website.

Roxanne DennisCampus Minister, Roxanne Dennis also invites you to participate in Parish and Community Service

There are many opportunities for service in the Lord listed in the Parish Bulletin, the "Catholic Crusader" and in our Activities section of the Web page. You may be able to share your "God-Given" gifts and talents with someone in need.

Remember that these ministries once completed, are things that prospective employers look for on resumes but more importantly, they are ways to better understand the Seven Principals of Catholic Social Teaching which are:

          1. The Life and dignity of the human person
          2. A Call to family, community, and participation
          3. Our Rights and responsibilities
          4. Option for and with the poor and vulnerable
          5. Dignity of work and the rights of workers
          6. Solidarity
          7. Care for God's creation
