This course provides an overview of Buddhism, with an emphasis on the philosophical and psychological implications for modern psychology. It is a read-and-discuss (and practice!) seminar that requires a willingness to look beyond one's traditional perspectives.
Required books:
Shunryu Suzuki's Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind.
Stephen Batchelor's Buddhism without Beliefs.
Required readings:
All additional readings are available from the internet, including my Introduction to Buddhism web site (links in bold).

Grading: Grades will be based on attendance and participation, and a daily journal. The journal involves approximately one page of writing, consisting of questions and comments on the day's readings, to be handed in each day. No unexcused absences will be accepted!
