Bill McHenry received his Bachelor’s degree from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in Environmental Studies/Geography. His Master’s degree, awarded by Edinboro as well, was earned in Secondary School Counseling. After receiving his Master’s degree, Bill worked for 4 years as an adolescent sex offender group home counselor and supervisor. Subsequent to this experience, Bill worked for 3 years in Cleveland , OH as a counselor in a large, inner-city adult rehabilitation agency. He then went to The University of South Dakota for doctoral work. While there he counseled students in the student counseling center, families in the counseling department clinic, and served as an intern in a local high school. His doctoral dissertation was on adolescent early recollections of childhood and psychosocial stage resolution. After receiving his Ph.D., Bill worked for 2 years as an assistant professor of counseling at Central Missouri State University .
Dr. McHenry is an Assistant Professor of Counseling at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania. His writing, research and presentations focus on counseling skill development, the role of the school counselor, collaborations between schools and community agencies, issues of diversity, group counseling, counseling student-athletes, and technology in counseling.
Dr. McHenry resides in Shippensburg , PA with his wife Melissa, daughter Meghan and two dogs Eddie and Bobbie.
His hobbies include golfing, writing, fishing, baseball and traveling.
