Thursday, October 8
Larry Nesbit, Director of the Mansfield University Library welcomed us to Mansfield and provided the history of the library and its renovation and expansion.  The group then divided for tours of the library, one group concentrating on the history and architecture of the building, while the second group viewed the building from the perspective of its respective functions.

Round Table Discussion was the next item on the agenda, with each school contributing recent changes and updates in their document and map departments.  Since all schools were presently involved or about to be involved with implementing the Endeavor/Voyager system as the university-wide online public access catalog (named PILOT), this dominated much of the discussion.  An important part of the conversation related to Marcive tape  load procedures with the new system.

A motion was made thanking Dick Matovich for his many years of service to DOMA. Dick is retiring from California University.  Presently, three SSHE document librarian searches are underway at California, East Stroudsburg and Slippery Rock Universities.

Report from CIS representative, Jim Walsh was the next item on the agenda which included a demonstration of Congressional Universe as well as other new products from CIS (Lexis-Nexis).  Discussion ensued concerning our DOMA subscription to various CIS products.  It was decided that it would be best for each school to order an individual subscription through PALINET.  DOMA schools would like to have remote access for campus users to the various CIS products.  Presently, the only way this is possible is via a proxy server, which is not available at all SSHE universities.

Evening meeting of informal sharing and camaraderie continued over dinner at the Penn Wells Hotel in Wellsboro.

Friday, October 9
Morning program began with an demonstration  by Michael Brennan of Geolytics, Inc. of Geolytics Census CD-ROM  as well as its new GIS supplement.

Tasha Cooper (Lycoming) and Larry Schankman (Mansfield) presented an excellent program on completing the Depository Self Study.  Western Pennsylvania depositories have completed their self studies.  It is felt that eastern Pennsylvania depositories may be targeted this fall for implementation of the Self Study.

Preparation of a grant application was the next item of business.  This application will provide for collaborative document collection development for DOMA members as well as funding for a DOMA subscription to various Marcive, Inc. products for all SSHE universities.  Representatives from IUP,  Mansfield, Millersville, Shippensburg and West Chester volunteered to work on the LCSA grant application, due for submissmion in
March, 1999.

Meeting concluded with a rousing applause and gift presentation to Judy Feller, Documents Librarian at East Stroudsburg University who is retiring in December, 1998.  Judy has been an exemplary documents librarian and DOMA colleague, who will be sorely missed.

Respectfully submitted,
