The Environmental Steering Committee (ESC) is a group of faculty, staff and students that work to promote the well being of the campus environment through the promotion of conservation and education.  The ESC also acts as an important liaison between environmentalists on campus and the University regarding important environmental issues. The current co-chairs of the ESC are Dr. Tim Hawkins and Dr. Claire Jantz from the Geography-Earth Science Department.

The Environmental Steering Committee is pleased to announce SU's first Earth Day speaker, Dr. George Woodwell, founder, director emeritus, and senior scientist at the Woods Hole Research Center. Dr. Woodwell will be speaking about the urgent issue of climate change in his talk entitled “Awkward Facts about Climate Change: Laissez Faire Hell or Garden of Eden?” He will be speaking on Thursday April 24 at 3:30 pm in Rowland Hall 200. President Ruud sorts through trash President Ruud helps Emilie Kohler sort through trash to separate the recylables as part of SU's Recyclemania competition. SU is one of 400 colleges and universities nationwide participating in the competition, which runs from Jan. 27 - March 30. Check here for more information.
