The Environmental Steering Committee is pleased to announce SU's first Earth Day speaker, Dr. George Woodwell, founder, director emeritus, and senior scientist at the Woods Hole Research Center. Dr. Woodwell will be speaking about the urgent issue of climate change in his talk entitled “Awkward Facts about Climate Change: Laissez Faire Hell or Garden of Eden?” He will be speaking on Thursday April 24 at 3:30 pm in Rowland Hall 200. President Ruud sorts through trash President Ruud helps Emilie Kohler sort through trash to separate the recylables as part of SU's Recyclemania competition. SU is one of 400 colleges and universities nationwide participating in the competition, which runs from Jan. 27 - March 30. Check here for more information.

The Pennsylvania Bureau of State Parks-Kings Gap Environmental Education Center will sponsor a "Growing Greener: Renewable Energy Realities on Wednesday, March 12, 2008. Check here for more information.

On January 31, Shippensburg University will be participated in Focus the Nation, the largest teach-in in U.S. history centered on the topic of climate change.  More information, including a schedule of events is available here.
