Student Blackboard Orientation


First Steps

Once you have registered for classes, you are automatically enrolled in those classes on the Blackboard platform. Each class resides in a "Course Shell" similar to a web site. Your instructor may open the course to you before the official class start date but some may choose to open the course shell to you at a later time. If you register for a class during the add/drop period you should expect a 24 to 48 hour delay in accessing your course.

New Students: Email Username

To obtain your email username you must have your SSN and library ID number. Important Information for the Computer Services department.

  1. From the Shippensburg University info@ship.edu page, click on the Student Information System [SIS] link. The Shippensburg University Student Information System [SIS] screen will appear.
  2. Follow the directions on the screen. Once you have obtained your username, you are ready to log into Blackboard.
