Announcements
New in Blackboard 7.3
Instructors can send email notification of new announcements to students.
The Announcements section is the default entry point or “front door” for the course Web site. The default entry point can be changed by the Instructor.
Announcements can be used to notify students about new information pertaining to the course. Consider using announcements to let students know:
- Assignment due dates
- Changes to the syllabus
- Corrections/clarifications of materials
- Exam schedules
- Other important information
In the Announcements section of the Student View, announcements will be ordered chronologically, with the most recent announcement at the top of the page. By default, the Announcements page will show the last seven days of announcements; however, the user can change that view by clicking on the appropriate tab at the top of the Course Tools. After 7 days the announcement moves from the View Last 7 Days tab to the View Last 30 Days tab.
If you want the announcement to remain on the View Last 7 Days tab, the announcement can also be set to always show on the Announcements page. If an announcement is set to be permanent, then it will be listed at the top of the Announcements page (before the dated announcements) and on every view tab. You can use this for information you want in front of the students' eyes every time they enter the course or for a set period of time longer than 7 days. For example, you might post an announcement containing the institution's help desk contact information and set it to always show.
Follow the steps below to open the Add Announcement page.
- Click Announcements in Course areas of the Control Panel.
