Entering Grades
There are a variety of ways to enter grades.
Adding Items
Each column in the Gradebook is called an Item by Blackboard. Some items are added automatically these include tests or exams created through the Test Manager and assignments, created with the Assignment Tool. Faculty can manually add an item(s) to post grades for assessments that are not submitted electronically through Blackboard.
To add an item manually,
- Navigate to the Control Panel > Assessment > Gradebook
- Click on Add Item

- Complete all the blanks provided.

- Click on the Submit button.
- To immediately add grades, follow the directions listed below under Item Grade List.
Entering a individual grade
- Navigate to the Control Panel > Assessment > Gradebook
- Click on the entry in the gradebook for a single student.

- Enter the grade for the student.

- Click on the Submit button.
- Confirm the grade change by clicking OK
Item Grade List
To enter grades for the same item for multiple students,
- Navigate to the Control Panel > Assessment > Gradebook
- Click on the title of the Gradebook Item

- Click on the first option in the list, Item Grade List
- Enter scores for desired students. You can use the tab key to move from grade text box to the next box.

- When finished, click on the Submit button.
- Confirm the grade change by clicking OK
User Grade List
To enter multiple grades for a single student,
- Navigate to the Control Panel > Assessment > Gradebook
- Click on the Name of the Student.
- Click on the User Grade List link.
- Enter desired scores for the selected student. *Note - Fields for grades are tab-delimited, so by clicking in the first row and entering a score, pressing the tab key will move the cursor down to the next row. When finished, click Submit
- Confirm the grade change by clicking OK
