Messages
The Messages tool allows instructors to communicate with members of the class within Blackboard. When a message is sent to students it is not sent to their outside email account rather it is sent within the platform itself. The Message folder contains two areas, the Inbox and Sent folder.

Creating and Sending Messages
Step 1: Navigate to the Control Panel and click on the Message link
Step 2: On the Message page, click on the Add Message button
Step 3: The Compose Message page appears. Click on the To: button, select your name and add it to the Recipient side of the dialog box by clicking on the arrow pointing to the right.
Step 4: Enter the following information in the Subject and Text Fields:
Subject: Syllabus
Text Field:
The syllabus has been placed in the Course Information section of Blackboard. Please view the syllabus on the first day of class and complete the introductory materials.
Step 5: The message will appear in the Message Inbox folder.
We’ve looked at how to interact with students on an instructor/student level. Now we are going to look at how to discuss issues with students using the Discussion Board feature in Blackboard.
