Navigating Blackboard

Once logged in, you will see your own personal My Institution page.  This page will look slightly different than the one below (it may have different colors and images, for example), but the overall structure will be the same.  You are able to modify and change the content and layout of this page to suit your needs.

Welcome Screen

Each cell or mini-window that you see is called a module. There are many different types of modules that will provide easy access to information such as the dictionary or thesaurus, New York Times and Time magazine modules, and the calculator module. Other specialty modules are also available such as the What’s New module.

Modules of Special Interest
What’s New Module [Not working at this time]

The What’s New module allows instructors and students to have a quick view of what has been added and changed in the module since the last update. Updates automatically occur once per day. The Refresh button located in the What’s New module allows the user to update the page at any time.

My Courses

The My Courses module contains all the courses that you are teaching. Remember that new course shells are generated each semester. To remove course shells that are no longer used, click on the Modify module icon and deselect the checkbox next to the course name.
