Purpose
A component of Microsoft Office, PowerPoint is a presentation graphics program. Faculty can create presentations and simple educational games. With PowerPoint faculty can add simple shapes, graphics, multimedia and animation to create a dynamic presentation. Once the presentation is created it can be used for delivered on-screen, as overhead transparencies, as 35mm slides and as paper printouts/ handouts/notes/outlines. The current version of Microsoft Office is Office 2007.

- Students concentrate and understand the main points as shown in your presentation instead of trying to write down every word said during a lecture

Cost
Although Microsoft Office is placed on all campus computers, PowerPoint can be purchased separately or with Microsoft Office Professional. Microsoft Office Professional 2007 retails for $424.99 while PowerPoint retails for $197.99. Prices may vary.

Customizing PowerPoint Presentations In this workshop faculty can learn about customizing the Slide Master, working with templates, capturing images, sound and movies, adding/formatting/animating diagrams and linking and branching PowerPoint files. Workshop Handouts

Adding Audio to your PowerPoint Presentations The addition of sound greatly enhancing the learning experience by providing students with the extra information they need about a topic if they are unable to attend class or if they are taking an online course. This hands-on training will help faculty learn to add narration, rerecord and delete narration using the Windows Sound Recorder or the PowerPoint Sound Recorder. You will also learn to add pre-recorded sound from CD-ROM's or from an audio library. Adding Video to your PowerPoint Presentations Another great feature to add to a PowerPoint presentation is video. Video can be used to introduce or clarify concepts. In this workshop, faculty will learn to create a short video clip introducing themselves using a digital camera and if needed resize it in PowerPoint. This clip can be added to a PowerPoint presentation or uploaded into Blackboard. Faculty will also learn how to add real media streaming files to their presentation. |
