Math-Computer DayOn Thursday, March 12, 2009, the Mathematics Club and the Programming
Team at Shippensburg University are sponsoring their annual SU Math Contest
and Programming Contest. Students from over fifty high schools from the central Pennsylvania
region have been invited and we anticipate a good turnout.
The Math Contest will consist of an individual test and a team quiz bowl. The
team portion is in a math quiz bowl format; due to this format we can only allow
the first twenty teams that respond to compete in the quiz bowl. Prizes will be
awarded to the three highest-ranking individuals and three highest-ranking
teams. Certificates will also be given to each individual who participates in
the contest. The Math Contest and Quiz Bowl are restricted to juniors only.
The SU Programming Contest for high school students is sponsored by Shippensburg
University’s Programming Team. The teams will try to develop programs to
correctly solve as many of the six contest problems as they can. Trophies will
be awarded to the three highest-ranking teams. Certificates will also be given
to each individual who participates. High school students of any grade are invited to participate in the Programming Contest.
