Shockwave and Flash Files

As part of a Shippensburg University TRE (Teaching and Research Excellence) grant, during the Summer of 2005 I worked on developing a basic understanding of the Macromedia Director software and used it to create several animations and interactive web-based activities. Some of these are listed below.

I have also started working with Macromedia Flash to create applets illustrating concepts of symmetry and group theory.

• Three Views of Square Symmetry (published in MAA's Digital Classroom Resources)
• Generating Cycle Notation and Composing Permutations (to be presented at the Joint Mathematics Meetings in January 2007)

Summer 2007 Projects

• Scheduling Tasks with Order-Requirement Graphs: This is an application from my MAT 105 (Math for Liberal Studies) course, adapted from the COMAP book For All Practical Purposes.
• Bin Packing: A rudimentary bin-packing simulator.
• Graph Maker: A simple graph maker. Not many features here yet.

Spring 2008 Projects

• Scheduling Tasks with Order-Requirement Graphs version 2.0. This is an improvement over the previous version, and requires the user to follow the rules laid out in the COMAP book.
• GCD Example Generator. This applet generates random GCD problems with specified difficulty.
