Exploring the Effects of Order of Events in Population Models with Discrete Time
Abstract: Careful consideration of the order of events will be discussed for
formulating population models with discrete time. Two examples will show how the order of
events can affect optimal control results; the control actions include harvesting and
augmentation of a population. One of the models is an integrodifference system which is continuous in
its spatial variable.

Students may present a 20 minute talk (with 5 minute Q&A) or a poster presentation. The oral presentations can be talks on undergraduate/graduate research or a presentation by a COMAP team showing Mathematical Contest in Modeling solution. We will be creating our own latex & pdf documents from the submissions. Submissions should be received by Thursday March 28, 2013.
To offset the expenses of refreshments and lunch, we are charging a modest registration fee of $7 for each attendee. To register for the conference in advance, send a check made out to Shippensburg University along with the name(s) and affiliation of all those registering. This information should be mailed to Dr. Luis Melara, Department of Mathematics, Shippensburg University, Shippensburg, PA 17257 to be received by March 28, 2013.
Registration fees can also be paid in cash on site, but we would appreciate an e-mail in advance by March 28, 2013, with your name and affiliation, so we have the correct count for lunch and refreshments. The e-mail should be directed to Dr. Melara at lamelara@ship.edu.
