MIS Speakers:
Representatives Chritopher Galbraith: (Purchasing, Supply Management, and IT specialist) and Douglas Glair: (Manager, SCM Stategies) from the US Postal Service will be speaking about Supply Chain and MIS roles within the company and how to get where they are now.

 Career Fair:
Many vendors from the local area will be forecast job opportunities, including internships. Come for a great way to network!

Susan Zhehner from PA Department of Labor & Industry will be coming in to speak about job opportunities in the MIS field. This event will be held in Grove 302 at 3:30pm.


Highmark Datacenter Trip
Today the MIS Club will be traveling to the Highmark Datacenter. The carpool will be leaving the University at 3:15 p.m. and returning at approximiately 6:30. We thank all the students, faculty and club members who signed up for the trip, and are anticipating having an educational and fun experience.


End of Fall Semester
The Fall 2010 Semester has come to a close. The Officers of the MIS club would like to thank all the members and attendees of the MIS Club for a wonderful start to the 2010-11 School Year. This semester saw an increase of member participation, and the first MIS Club trip to Washington D.C..We hope that this trend continues, and look forward to seeing all the returning and hopefully many new members in 2011!

Tyco Presentation
On Thursday afternoon come join the MIS Club with a Ship Alumni from Tyco Electronics! She will be discussing what Tyco does, how to get an internship or job, the upcoming campus interviews and much more!

Come join the MIS Club Tuesday afternoon with recent Shippensburg graduates that are now employees of Deloitte! Topics of discussion will include their experiences as MIS majors at Ship, how they secured a job for after graduation, industry experience, and much more!

Come join the MIS Club Thursday night with highly acclaimed speakers from Deloitte! Topics of discussion will include trends in the industry (with regards to business, technology, and government), why IT is critical to enable business transformation in government, what it truly takes to be successful, and much more!

MIS Night - Career Expo 2010!
This year's MIS Night will be held in March with various empoyers from the surrounding community. This is a great opportunity to get your resume out there and network with local companies for internships and/or jobs. Highly recommended for all students!


Spring 2009 GAME NIGHT!

Tyco Electronics Speaker!
Come joins us to learn about current issues and to meet with professionals in the information systems field. The event starts Thursday Feburary 5th from 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. in the Grove Forum.


Wii Bowling at the Senior Center!
MIS Club has been currently working with a nearby Senior Center to help the residents become more knowledgeable about technology. The residents invited the Volunteer Committe along with existing club members to play Wii Bowling. It was a blast! Next semester, we hope to keep visiting and help with their technological needs.

MIS Career Fair
Thanks to all who attended and helped with the career fair. There was a great turnout of employers and students, and the everything was a success! Click for pictures!


Field Trip to PSECU
Thanks to those who came out for the field trip to Harrisburg. We enjoyed a morning of presentations, meeting with IT and other PSECU staff, a tour, food, and freebies.

Wireless Security Seminar

How To Get On Your PC From Anywhere!

In this seminar, Jason Greenawald will be discussing and demonstrating how to use your computer from anywhere in the world, and how information technology professionals are using this technology to make the computer repair “house call” a thing of the past.   Participants will learn the following:

  • How to install, configure and use the program to access their PC from anywhere! How to overcome networking issues involved with the process Limitations and security concerns behind the system
  • How to implement the protocol in a corporate environment

The MIS Club is hosting MIS Career Night on Wednesday March 29th from 3:00 – 6:00pm
in the CUB lounges on the 2nd floor. 

The MIS Career night is like a mini job fair for MIS majors.  The club is bringing in a number of different employers who are interested in talking and networking with MIS students.  All MIS majors are invited!  Whether you are a freshman or a senior, whether you are looking for a job, an internship or just to get information and network . . . this event is for you.  We encourage the entire major to participate, this event only happens every other year. 

The following companies are definitely coming:
PSECU, Computer Aid, Inc., Phoenix Contracts, Capital Blue Cross and PA Department of Labor and Industry. 

Other companies the club is currently working on are:
Hershey, SU Computer Services, Highmark, Tyco, Select Medical Corporation and other State departments. 

There will be an information session that will be held prior the MIS Career night. 
More information on the session will be provided at a later date. 

Spring 2006 - Guest Speaker

February 7th, 2006

Dr. Marsh Spoke to the MIS Club on February 7th, 2006 in room 402 on how to go about job searching, points of a good resume, and how to prepare for a job interview. It was a very informal and relaxed setting with a lot of great advice. Dr. Marsh had a lot of fun giving the presentation and provided us with his PowerPoint presentation he showed to everyone so that we may look to it in the future incase we need a refresher.


Fall 2005 - Guest Speaker

The MIS Club will be having two speakers Luke DiMuzio and Ryan Reisinger presenting
Wednesday November 30th at 3:30pm
in the Grove Forum.

Luke (on left) will be focusing on Databases, mainly Oracle, and some views on his career as a consultant. 
Ryan's (on right) focus will be the importance of Help Desk and PC Support in the industry. 
Also he will talk about the importance of internships.

We would encourage everyone to come and listen to the speakers. 
They will be providing some helpful information for everyone in the major.


MIS Club Field Trip to Computer Aid, Inc

November 18th, 2005

On November 18th we are going to go to Allentown, PA which houses the headquarters for Computer Aid, Inc. Here we will be taking a tour of the building and talking to various people within the organization in all different departments, not just the IT dept. Our Agenda will be as follows:

Meet at Grove Forum at 7:15 and depart at 7:30.

MIS CAREER NIGHT was a huge success!  The event started off with a presentation by Mr. Robert Ward, Director  Desktop Services - Computer Aid, Inc.  He spoke about building his career, and the ways he used a "personal pyramid" to build a foundation for himself.  The event was then opened up for students to speak with the IT professionals about careers in Information Technology.  Refreshments were provided by the SU Dining Services.  Thanks to everyone for your participation!

PC Workshop - Presented by Matt Stanford

Fall 2003 - Guest Speaker

 - L'Oreal, Inc.

Mr. Larry Hart spoke with our business students during the Fall of 2003.  He hit on many topics, including his journey through the ranks, and his current role as Sr.VP of IT at L'Oreal, Inc.  He stressed the importance of new tools in IT such as ERP, and SAP.  Mr. Hart gave students the chance to learn more about professionalism.  He also answered some very good questions by students

This field trip gave club members the chance to learn about Information Technology and how it fuels business solutions.  Capital Blue Cross was helpful in planning the event, and permitted our club to visit the data center.  Pizza and sodas were also provided by Capital Blue Cross, and we thank them for the experience.
