The MIS Club is hosting MIS Career Night on Wednesday March 29th from 3:00 – 6:00pm
in the CUB lounges on the 2nd floor.
The MIS Career night is like a mini job fair for MIS majors. The club is bringing in a number of different employers who are interested in talking and networking with MIS students. All MIS majors are invited! Whether you are a freshman or a senior, whether you are looking for a job, an internship or just to get information and network . . . this event is for you. We encourage the entire major to participate, this event only happens every other year.
The following companies
are definitely coming:
PSECU, Computer Aid, Inc., Phoenix
Contracts, Capital Blue Cross and PA Department of
Labor and Industry.
Other companies the club
is currently working on are:
Hershey, SU Computer Services,
Highmark, Tyco, Select Medical Corporation and other State
departments.
There will be an
information session that will be held prior the MIS Career
night.
More information on the session will be provided at a
later date.
February 7th, 2006
Dr. Marsh Spoke to the MIS Club on February 7th, 2006 in room 402 on how to go about job searching, points of a good resume, and how to prepare for a job interview. It was a very informal and relaxed setting with a lot of great advice. Dr. Marsh had a lot of fun giving the presentation and provided us with his PowerPoint presentation he showed to everyone so that we may look to it in the future incase we need a refresher.
November 30th, 2005
The MIS Club will be having two speakers Luke DiMuzio and Ryan Reisinger presenting
Wednesday November 30th at 3:30pm in the Grove Forum.
Luke (on left) will be focusing on Databases, mainly Oracle, and some views on his career as a consultant.
Ryan's (on right) focus will be the importance of Help Desk and PC Support in the industry.
Also he will talk about the importance of internships.
We would encourage everyone to come and listen to the speakers.
They will be providing some helpful information for everyone in the major.
November 18th, 2005
On November 18th we are going to go to Allentown, PA which houses the headquarters for Computer Aid, Inc. Here we will be taking a tour of the building and talking to various people within the organization in all different departments, not just the IT dept. Our Agenda will be as follows:

MIS CAREER NIGHT was a huge success! The event started off with a presentation by Mr. Robert Ward, Director Desktop Services - Computer Aid, Inc. He spoke about building his career, and the ways he used a "personal pyramid" to build a foundation for himself. The event was then opened up for students to speak with the IT professionals about careers in Information Technology. Refreshments were provided by the SU Dining Services. Mr. Larry Hart spoke with our business students during the Fall of 2003. He hit on many topics, including his journey through the ranks, and his current role as Sr.VP of IT at L'Oreal, Inc. He stressed the importance of new tools in IT such as ERP, and SAP. Mr. Hart gave students the chance to learn more about professionalism. He also answered some very good questions by students |

This field trip gave club members the chance to learn about Information Technology and how it fuels business solutions. Capital Blue Cross was helpful in planning the event, and permitted our club to visit the data center. Pizza and sodas were also provided by Capital Blue Cross, and we thank them for the experience. |
