Army of the Dead
We have been modeling the growth rate of the Army of Darkness. We assumed
it takes one skeleton 18 minutes to dig a hole, freeing a new skeleton to
join the army and start digging. To this exponential model, we add the ability
for skeletons to work in teams (N skeletons take 18/N minutes to dig a hole). We
also factor in the fact that fractional skeletons (still only partially unearthed
at the time step) should not contribute to the digging.
Additional Questions
- Introduce a scroll bar to quickly be able to adjust the team size.
- Introduce a scroll bar to quickly be able to check the army size after different numbers of hours.
- Increasing team size should not forever improve results. Clearly, 50
skeletons cannot efficiently collaborate on a single hole. Introduce a factor which
will reduce the benefits of increasing team size. Instead of having new holes
dug equal to (Active Diggers)/N (where N = team size), use EXP(-0.01*N)*(Active Diggers)/N.
EXP(x) is the Excel command for the exponential function e^x.
