Proposals for the American Literature Assoc. Conference in San Francisco

 

The John Edgar Wideman Society will be holding its first international
conference at the University of Pennsylvania Conference Center on
October 10 -11, 2003. John Wideman, Daniel Wideman, and novelist Albert French will be participating.

The program committee is open to any topic, but is especially interested in the following:

History (the past, memory, historical metafiction)
Music in the fiction or nonfiction
Sense of place
Albert French's fiction
Daniel Wideman as essayist, poet, editor
Nonfiction
Gender
Law and/or Prison
Family
Modernism/Postmodernism

Proposals of 500 words by June 30 to:

The John Edgar Wideman Society seeks 250-300 word
abstracts
on topics about the work of Wideman for two panels at the American Literature Association Conference in San Francisco.
While we welcome any topics, we are especially interested in the following:

Wideman and travel writing
Wideman and other writers
Autobiography/memoir and Wideman
