CRUMP NAMED PSAC WESTERN DIVISION OFFENSIVE POW

 

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Sophomore halfback Walter Crump (Sharon Hill, Pa./Academy Park) was named as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division Offensive Player of the Week.  It is the first career honor for Crump and the second offensive selection for Shippensburg this season.

 

Crump averaged an amazing 16.8 yards per carry and scored two touchdowns as Shippensburg downed Slippery Rock University, 35-17.  He totaled 134 yards on just eight carries and had scoring runs of 29 and 33 yards.  In addition, he set up Shippensburg's final score of the day with a 51-yard run in the fourth quarter that ended Slippery Rock's comeback attempt.

 

For the season, Crump has played in all 10 of the teamıs games as Shippensburg won its first PSAC Western Division championship since 1988.  The Red Raiders are 9-1 overall and 5-1 in the PSAC.  He is currently second on the team with 561 yards rushing for an average of 56.1 yards per game and has six rushing touchdowns.  Crump is also third on the team in scoring, total offense and all-purpose.
