JOHN KUHN NAMED PSAC WEST OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

 

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Fullback John Kuhn (York, Pa./Dover) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in a 49-27 victory over Millersville on Saturday.

 

Kuhn posted a career-high 234 rushing yards on 25 carries and totaled 292 all-purpose yards as he added three catches for 58 yards.  He scored two touchdowns in the game, breaking a 14-14 tie to give Shippensburg the lead for good, 28-14.  His first touchdown came with on a 17-yard run that capped a 52-yard drive, 49 of which came from Kuhn.

 

On Shippensburgıs next drive, he caught a shovel pass from quarterback Tony Gomez and broke free down the sideline for a 39-yard reception and later scored on a 1-yard touchdown run.  Kuhn averaged 9.4 yards per carry and 10.4 yards each time he touched the ball.

 

For the season, Kuhn has rushed for 540 yards, an average of 135.0 per game and six touchdowns.  He also leads the team in scoring and all-purpose yards.

 

With the victory at Millersville, it marked the first time since 1993 that Shippensburg (4-0) has begun the year with four-straight victories.  The Red Raiders open PSAC West play on Saturday when they host Edinboro University this Saturday, September 25 on Homecoming Weekend.  Kickoff at Seth Grove Stadium is set for 1:00 p.m.
