KUHN SELECTED HONORABLE MENTION PIZZA HUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. Senior fullback John Kuhn
(York, Pa./Dover) received his second player of the week honor of
the week on Tuesday when he was selected Honorable Mention Pizza Hut Player of
the Week by d2football.com.
Earlier in the week, he was named as the Pennsylvania State Athletic
Conference (PSAC) Western Division Offensive Player of the Week.
In a 49-27 victory over Millersville University on Saturday, Kuhn
had a career-high 234 yards rushing on 25 carries and two touchdowns. He also totaled 292 all-purpose yards
as he added three catches for 58 yards.
Kuhn averaged 9.4 yards per carry and 10.4 yards each time he touched
the ball.
With the score tied 14-14 in the second quarter, Kuhn scored the
first and his back-to-back touchdowns to give Shippensburg the lead for good,
21-14. His first score came on a
17-yard run that capped a 52-yard drive, 49 of which came from Kuhn. On Shippensburgıs next drive, he caught
a shovel pass from quarterback Tony Gomez and broke free down the sideline for
a 39-yard reception and later scored on a 1-yard touchdown run.
For the season, Kuhn is averaging 135.0 yards per game rushing and
has scored six touchdowns. He also
leads the team in scoring and all-purpose yards.
With the victory at Millersville, it marked the first time since
1993 that Shippensburg (4-0) has begun the year with four-straight
victories. The Red Raiders open
PSAC West play on Saturday when they host Edinboro University this Saturday,
September 25 on Homecoming Weekend.
Kickoff at Seth Grove Stadium is set for 1:00 p.m.
