KUHN NAMED FIRST-TEAM ALL-AMERICA SECOND-STRAIGHT YEAR

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Shippensburg University football senior John Kuhn (York, Pa./Dover) was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America College Division First-Team on Wednesday. The honor marks the second consecutive year that Kuhn has been named to the first-team.

The team is selected annually by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

A chemistry major with a 3.293 grade point average, Kuhn was named as a First-Team Academic All-District II selection earlier this fall. Kuhn has worked for both Johnson & Johnson and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.

On the football field, Kuhn is one of the greatest running backs in Shippensburg and Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) history. In 2004, he helped lead Shippensburg to a 10-2 record and its third appearance in the NCAA Division II Football Championship. He ended his career with 21 Shippensburg single-season and career records, including nearly every rushing and scoring mark.

Kuhn holds the Red Raider career records for most carries (910), most yards rushing (4,685), most all-purpose yards (5,300), most touchdowns (53), most points scored (322), most games with 100 yards rushing (26), and most consecutive games with 100 yards rushing (11). Kuhn has rushed for over 1,000 yards each of the past three seasons. He rushed for 1,500 yards last season, a Shippensburg single-season record. Kuhn holds the PSAC record for rushing touchdowns in a game with six. He is fourth in the PSAC in career rushing yards, third in career carries and fourth in career rushing touchdowns.
