STREET HONORED BY D2FOOTBALL.COM FOR DEFENSE

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. After being named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division Defensive Player of the Week on Sunday, Shippensburg University football player Mike Street (Philadelphia/Mastbaum) was named Honorable Mention Pizza Hut Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday by d2football.com.

It marks the second consecutive week that Ship has had a player selected by the website after senior John Kuhn (York, Pa./Dover) was named Honorable Mention Offensive Player of the Week following the game against Millersville University when he had a career-high 234 yards rushing and 292 all-purpose yards.

Street posted seven tackles, forced a fumble, recovered a fumble, had one interception and one pass break-up.

His strip and recovery of a fumble late in the first half at the Edinboro 29-yard line, led to a Shippensburg field goal that gave the Red Raiders a 10-3 lead at halftime and his interception stopped an early Edinboro drive near midfield.

Street currently leads the team with three interceptions for 92 yards, including a 92-yard interception return for a touchdown against Bloomsburg University which was the second longest in school history.  He is also tied for the team lead with 30 tackles and has two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble.
