Dykes, Aldridge Named to Football Gazette All-Northeast Region Team

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Shippensburg University football red-shirt senior Aaron Dykes (West Chester/Downingtown) and red-shirt senior Jonathan Aldridge (Pittsburgh/Seneca Valley) were both named to the 2007 All-Northeast Region Team selected by Don Hansen’s Football Gazette and released on Friday, January 11.
Dykes was selected to the first team while Aldridge earned a second team selection. The first and second team selections advance to a national ballot from which the 2007 NCAA Division II Football Gazette All-America team will be selected by the end of January.
Dykes led the team in rushing for the third-straight season, totaling 634 yards and 11 touchdowns, both career-highs. A three-time All-PSAC Western Division selection, he earned his first, first team selection this year. He finished his career with 1,790 yards rushing, ranking him eighth in school history while also totaling 20 rushing touchdowns.
An All-PSAC Western Division First Team selection this year, Aldridge led the team in tackles for the second time in the last three seasons. After totaling a team-high 91 tackles, he finished his career with 256 stops in 38 career games, 32 of which were starts. Aldridge also had a team-high 97 tackles in 2005 and finished his career with 8.0 tackles for loss and 16 pass breakups.
This marks the sixth year that Football Gazette has selected NCAA Division II All-Region teams. The national publication has selected NCAA Division II All-America teams since 1988.
