Shippensburg to Sponsor "Take a Kid to the Game" Program on Saturday

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Shippensburg University Athletics Department is inviting all area youth to Heiges Field House on Saturday, February 4 to experience the college game-day atmosphere when Shippensburg hosts NCAA-Basketball’s eighth annual Take a Kid to the Game (TAKG) day celebration.
Youth, ages 12 and younger, will receive a free ticket with the purchase a full-priced adult ticket, to the watch the Shippensburg men’s and women’s basketball teams take on Edinboro University at Heiges Field House, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
The first 500 fans will receive free NCAA key chains while kids 12 and under will also receive free J.J. Jumper NCAA Growth Charts. J.J. Jumper is the official mascot of NCAA Basketball.
Shippensburg is hosting one of more than 700 games that will be played across the nation this season as part of the Take a Kid to the Game program. The program, is a grass roots initiative that attracts the nation’s youth and encourages adults to take kids to area college basketball games.
“We are pleased to extend the invitation to the community as we invite adults to bring children to experience a collegiate athletic event,” said Jeff Michaels, Associate Athletics Director at Shippensburg University.
“It is our hope that there will be a record turn out as more and more children are able to take advantage of this truly memorable experience and worthwhile program. Shippensburg is excited about the intense basketball action that you will have a chance to be a part of!”
