Box Score

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - A second-half shooting surge and near double-doubles from three different Lady Raiders helped Shippensburg overcome a two-point halftime deficit and upend visiting Slippery Rock (8-10, 2-2) by 13 points on Saturday afternoon at Heiges Field House. Shippensburg (14-6, 4-1 PSAC West) moved into sole possession of first place in the PSAC Western Division with the victory and led by as many as 18 points in the second half behind eight 3-pointers drained by the Lady Raiders in the contest.

Freshman Lauren Beckley (Fairfield/Fairfield), the reigning PSAC Player of the Week in the Western Division, finished with a game-high 26 points and nine rebounds after being held to a career-low six points on Wednesday night. Redshirt-freshman Jenny Cunningham (McVeytown, Pa./Lewistown) added 12 points and nine rebounds. Senior Shanna Oaddams (Willingboro, N.J./Willingboro) was the third Shippensburg player to record nine rebounds, contributing 16 points on 5-of-9 shooting.

The trio of Beckley, Cunningham and Oaddams combined to score 54 of the team's 69 points as well as collect 27 of the team's 37 rebounds.

A major key to the victory for Shippensburg was its clutch shooting in the second half, as the team shot 53.6-percent from the field over the final 20 minutes and embarked upon a 16-2 run late in the second half to transform a 51-47 game at 9:14 to a 67-49 contest with 4:03 remaining. The Lady Raiders connected for three 3-pointers during the run, including two by Beckley.

In Shippensburg's loss to California (Pa.) on Wednesday, the Lady Raiders were plagued by 33 turnovers. Against The Rock, Shippensburg capitalized on the turnovers committed by Slippery Rock, as the Lady Raiders scored 26 points off 18 Slippery Rock turnovers. Shippensburg also scored 30 points in the paint.

Another Lady Raider making key contributions was junior Megan Fogle (Wrightsville/Eastern York), who added five points and a team-high five assists. Slippery Rock was led by Nijha McNeely, who added 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting, while Nikki Presto added 12 points.

Shippensburg will continue a three-game PSAC West homestand on Monday evening when the Lady Raiders host Indiana (Pa.) The two teams will be vying for first place in the PSAC West, as second-place IUP (13-6, 3-1 PSAC West) will be attempting to dethrone first-place Shippensburg. Tipoff from Heiges Field House is scheduled for 6 p.m.
