Cunningham Receives Second-Straight Rookie of the Week Honor

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - On Monday, Shippensburg women's basketball red-shirt freshman Jenny Cunningham (McVeytown/Lewistown) was named PSAC Western Division Rookie of the Week for the second-straight week. It is the sixth time in the nine weeks that a Shippensburg players has received the award.
Cunningham turned in another strong performance this week as she averaged 13.5 points and a team-high 8.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.0 steals. She also shot 46.2-percent from the floor (12-of-26).
Against
California (Pa.), Cunningham totaled 15 points, eight rebounds, four
assists and two steals before posting 12 points, a career-high nine
rebounds, four assists and four steals against Slippery Rock on Saturday.
Cunningham is averaging 7.3 points and 4.3 rebounds
through 19 games, but over her last three, is averaging
15.0 points and 8.3 rebounds. She received her first career honor
on January 22 when she was named PSAC Western Division
Rookie of the Week.
In addition to Cunningham, freshman forward
Lauren Beckley (Fairfield/Fairfield), who has been a two-time PSAC Western
Division Player of the Week this season, has
earned Western Division Rookie of the Week honors four times.
Monday's game also features the top two scoring offenses
in the PSAC with Shippensburg leading the way at
70.9 points per
game, closely followed by Indiana (Pa.) at 70.2 per game.
