Lady Raider Basketball to Travel to California (Pa.) for PSAC Quarterfinals

Pa. - With a 67-45 victory over Edinboro on
Saturday night, the California (Pa.) women’s basketball team secured the No. 2-seed in
next week’s PSAC Women’s Basketball Championship and will host
third-seeded Shippensburg at 6:00 p.m., on Tuesday at Hamer Hall in the quarterfinals.
Ticket prices for Tuesday’s game will be $7.00 for adults and $2.00 for
students while students from member institutions will be admitted free with
a valid I.D. There will be NO complimentary tickets and ONLY conference passes
will be accepted.
The Lady Raiders (17-10, 7-5 PSAC West) split the season series with the Vulcans
with each team winning of its home floor. On January 24, California (Pa.) scored
27 points off of 33 Lady Raider turnovers en route to a 62-58 overtime victory
at Hamer Hall.
Shippensburg and California (Pa.) have combined to win 10 of the 27 women’s
basketball championships awarded by the conference, with all of them coming
in the last 11 years. The only other winner during that time was Millersville
in 2005.
The Lady Raiders won a conference record six consecutive championships from
1996-2001 and have made 12 appearances in the conference tournament in the
last 13 years.
