Beckley and Oaddams Named All-PSAC West First Team, Beckley Named Rookie of the Year

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced Tuesday afternoon that Shippensburg women's basketball senior Shanna Oaddams (Willingboro, N.J./Willingboro) and freshman Lauren Beckley ( Fairfield/Fairfield) eached earned a spot on the All-PSAC Western Division First Team. Beckley was also named PSAC Western Division Rookie of the Year.
Beckley is the first freshman to be named to the first team since California's Sara McKinney in 2001-02. Beckley averaged a conference-best 19.6 points per game this season and totaled 548 points, which breaks the PSAC freshman scoring record which was previously set by McKinney. She is the first Ship freshman to the lead the team in scoring since Stacey Cunningham set the school's freshman scoring record in 1981.
She is also Shippensburg's first rookie of the year since Megan Fogle (Wrightsville/Eastern York) in 2004-05 to be named PSAC Western Division Rookie of the Year. During Head Coach Kristy Trn's eight years as head coach, Shippensburg has had four players win the rookie of the year award.
Beckley was named PSAC West Rookie of the Week six times and player of the week twice during the 2007 season. Along with her team and conference-leading scoring average, she led the team in scoring 16 teams and tallied 10 20-point performances and two 30-point games. She also averaged a team-best 8.6 boards per game and led the team in steals with 47.
Also on Tuesday, Beckley was named Daktronics All-East Region Second Team. Beckely was the only freshman to be named all-region.
For a third-straight season, Oaddams was named All-PSAC Western Division First Team. It is her fourth All-PSAC honor, as she was named tot he second team as a freshman. This season, Oaddams ranked second on the team in scoring and rebounding with 13.9 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Those totals ranked Oaddams 10th in the PSAC in both categories. She also ranked first in the PSAC in field goal percentage, converting 58.1 percent of her attempts.
In 111 career games, Oaddams totaled 1,453 points and 969 rebounds to rank ninth on the school’s career scoring list and second in career rebounding.
The Lady Raiders finished the season with
a 17-11 record and qualified for the PSAC Tournament.
