Oaddams Scores Career-High 33 Points in 96-77 Win

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Junior Shanna Oaddams (Willingboro, N.J./Willingboro) scored a career-high 33 points to lead the Shippensburg University women's basketball team to its third-straight win, 96-77, over Shepherd University on Tuesday night at Heiges Field House. In three games this season, the Lady Raiders are averaging 88.7 points.

Shippensburg (3-0) surpassed the 90-point plateau for the second-straight game after totaling 99 points on Saturday versus Mercy College. The last time the Lady Raiders scored 90 points in back-to-back games was during the 1997-98 season when the team beat Ohio Valley 91-59 on December 5 and Saint Vincent 97-75 on December 6, both in the Wolf's Bus Lines Tournament.

Oaddams was 15-of-20 from the field and pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds, her second-straight double-double and the 16th of her career. She led five Lady Raiders in double figures as senior Caitlin MacPherson (Hemlock, N.Y./Livonia) totaled 17 points and sophomore Megan Fogle (Wrightsville, Pa./Eastern York) had 16 points.

Freshman Phylicia Bessick (Columbia, Pa./Hempfield) added 14 points while senior Kim Strickland (New Kensington, Pa./Valley) had 10.

With the score tied at 21-21 with 10:09 left in the first half, Shippensburg went on a 21-7 run to open up a 14-point lead, 42-28, with 3:20 remaining in the half. During the run, Fogle totaled nine points and Oaddams had six.

In the first half, the Lady Raiders scored 13 points off turnovers and 13 fastbreak points in opening a 45-32 halftime lead. Oaddams scored 18 of her 33 points in the first half while Fogle contributed 11.

Shippensburg opened the second half with an 18-0 run to stretch its lead to its largest of the game at 29 points, 63-34 with 15:29 left.

For the game, the Lady Raiders scored 33 points of 27 Shepherd (1-2) turnovers and held a 52-42 advantage in points in the paint. The team also shot 59.4-percent in the second half and 52.9-percent for the game while making eight three-pointers. In three games this season, Shippensburg has made 25 three-pointers, an average of 8.3 per game.

The Lady Raiders will now take off for the Thanksgiving holiday and return to action next Wednesday, November 30 at home versus regional rival the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.
