Beckley Named PSAC Western Division Player of the Week

University women's basketball sophomore forward Lauren Beckley
(Fairfield/Fairfield) was named PSAC Western Division Player of the Week on Monday, marking her
third career honor. It was also the third-straight week that a Lady Raider
has been honored by the conference.
Beckley led Shippensburg to two PSAC crossover victories over Kutztown and
East Stroudsburg last week. She totaled two double doubles and averaged 27.0
points, 13.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.5 blocks. She shot 58.3 percent from
the floor, including 62.5 percent from three-point range. Beckley was also
a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line.
In a 62-46 victory against Kutztown on Saturday, Beckley totaled 24 points
and a season-high 14 rebounds.
Against East Stroudsburg on Sunday, she totaled 30 points and 12 rebounds
for her fourth double double in five games this season while scoring at least
30 points for the second time. She also added an assist, three blocks and
five steals.
Beckley, the 2007 PSAC Western Division Rookie of the Year, was twice named
PSAC Western Division Player of the Week last season on Dec. 4, 2006 and
Jan. 22, 2007 where she also shared the honor with Tracey. In addition to
her two player of the week awards last year, Beckley was named PSAC Western
Division Rookie of the Week six times.
Through 33 career games, Beckley has already amassed 660 points, an average
of 20.0 per game, while totaling 283 rebounds for an average of 8.6 per game.
Shippensburg returns to action this Friday, December 7 when it takes on Dowling
at the ESU Rotary Classic hosted by East Stroudsurg. Tip-off is at 1:00 p.m.
