Beckley Receives Third-Straight PSAC Western Division Weekly Honor
Dec. 12, 2006
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Shippensburg women's
basketball freshman Lauren Beckley (Fairfield/Fairfield) received her third
weekly honor in as many weeks from the PSAC on Monday when she was named
PSAC Western Division Rookie of the Week. The award marked the second time
this season she has received Rookie of the Week honors.
Beckley was named PSAC Western Division Rookie of the Week on November
28 when the conference first handed out its weekly honors this season.
A week ago, she received PSAC Western Division Player of the Week honors.
Last week, Beckley led Shippensburg to a 77-68 road victory at West Virginia
Wesleyan in the team's only game of the week. She totaled her second career
double double with a game-high 27 points and career-high 18 rebounds to
go along with three assists and two steals.
With 27 points on Saturday, Beckley has now scored 24 or more in the last
five-straight contests, averaging 27.6 points and 10.4 rebounds during
that time. Her double double came almost two weeks to the day after she
totaled 29 points and 15 rebounds in an 85-71 victory over Charleston (WV)
on November 26.
Beckley currently leads the team in scoring at 22.6 points per game and
is second in rebounding at 8.3 per game. She also leads the team with 26
three-pointers and 18 steals.
Shippensburg will look for its first back-to-back wins since Jan. 15, 2005
when it hosts Bloomsburg at Heiges Field House following a 10-day layoff
on Tuesday, December 19.
