Congratulations on completing your first semester! Now that you have some experience with college and are more knowledgeable about your strengths and weaknesses, you should be in a better position to declare your major. Remember, you must select a major by the middle of your third semester.This third installment in the Major Action Plan (MAP) can help. It lists resources you can use this semester to help you choose a major.

Q: I know what I want as my major. What must I do next?

A:First, determine whether your intended major requires a certain GPA.Do you have it? Next, determine whether you must have certain prerequisite courses in order to declare.Do you have them?If not, you should schedule them this semester as long as you are qualified to take them.If you completed whatever initial steps are required, obtain a change-of-major form from the Division of Undeclared Majors, obtain the necessary signatures, and return the form.

Q:I've narrowed my choices down to two or three possibilities. What should I do next?

A:Take introductory courses to further investigate these majors while, at the same time use these courses to fulfill General Education requirements, if possible.Compare and contrast the different options in terms of your skills, interests, values, and other criteria important to you.What interests you most? What do you actually like studying?

A:Continue to take General Education courses in a variety of areas. Meet with your advisor to develop a scheduling plan. If you have not already done so, ask yourself the following:
