THE SOUTH MOUNTAIN SUMMER RACE SERIES

The series was conceived as a friendly club challenge between South Mountain area bicycle clubs. This is totally low-key, informal competition. No entry fees. No waivers. Just show up and ride your bike and the order that you arrive amongst other riders at an arbitrary point in the woods may or may not be recorded and posted online.

THE SMACKDOWN SERIES

Teams are scored in cross-country running style. Top three score points, fourth and fifth riders can displace other teams' riders. If your team has less than three riders, a third (or second and third or first, second, and third) ghost rider will be scored, having finished last (so if there are 15 riders, your ghost rider will finish 16th).

IRONMASTERS

The Ironmaster's Time Trial begins and ends at the historic Ironmaster's Mansion in Pine Grove Furnace State Park. An out-and-back course (five miles out, five miles back) though towering pines and curvy roads, with two gut-wrenching kickers to start and end the ride. Start time is nearly always 6:00. The cost is always exactly $0. Ample parking at the mansion or the Appalachian Trail store area next door which, incidentally, will be all too happy to sell you a hamburger, ice cream cone, or cold Coca-Cola after your effort.
