GRADE WEIGHTING
The grade will be determined by performance on
quizzes, midterm exams and the final exam.
Quizzes will count for 25%, the midterms and final exam will count 25%
each. Your percentage grade will be
converted to a letter grade according to the following scale.

QUIZZES
Quizzes will be held on Fridays, approximately every
second week. The lowest quiz grade will
be dropped, with the 25% allotted to quizzes being determined by the remaining
quiz grades.
TERM EXAMS
There will be two term exams. Material covered will
be announced in class and on this web page. They will occur in class, on Friday
September 26 and Monday November 3. The
exams will be closed book, with one page (front and back) of hand written notes
permitted. If you anticipate a conflict with any of these dates, you must
inform me at least one week in advance, or no accommodations will be given.
FINAL EXAM
The final exam will be longer and contain problems
from the entire course. As with the term exams, you will be allowed one page of
notes. In addition for 1/3 of your total exam grade, your final score will
replace any lower term exam scores. If
your quiz average (after dropping the lowest quiz) is lower than your score on
the final exam, your final score will replace your quiz score.
POLICY REGARDING MISSED WORK
If you are going to miss an exam or homework deadline, inform me
beforehand as soon as possible (at least one week in advance for exams). We
will then be able to arrange an alternate test time or deadline.
If an exam is missed without prior notification, no make-up exams will be given
under any circumstances. Your final exam score will be used for the missed
midterm as per the policy described above in the Final Exam section.
ACADEMIC DISHONESTY It is the policy of Shippensburg University to expect academic honesty. Students who commit breaches of academic honesty will be subject to the various sanctions outlined in the Undergraduate Catalog.
TITLE IX
Shippensburg University and its faculty are committed to assuring a safe and productive educational environment for all students. In order to comply with the requirements of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and the University’s commitment to offering supportive measures in accordance with the 2020 regulations issued under Title IX, the University requires faculty members to report incidents of sexual violence shared by students to the University's Title IX Coordinator at title9@ship.edu .
The only exceptions to the faculty member's reporting obligation are when incidents of sexual violence are communicated by a student during a classroom discussion, in a writing assignment for a class, or as part of a university-approved research project. Faculty members are obligated to report sexual violence or any other abuse of a student who was, or is, a child (a person under 18 years of age) when the abuse allegedly occurred to the person designated in the university’ Protection and Supervision of Minors on Campus Policy.
Information regarding the reporting of sexual violence and
the resources that are available to victims of sexual violence are available on
