Professional Training Stages

1. Admission to Teacher Education Program

  • Freshman: SAT
  • Intra-Campus Transfer: GPA, written statment, group interview
  • Transfer Students, GPA 3.0, group interview

Qualifies students for 100/200 level teacher education courses

       
   

2. Professional Standing (48-60 crs)

  • Self initiated observation hours
  • Praxis I
  • Small Group Interview
  • GPA 3.0

Qualifies students for upper level teacher education courses

   

Praxis I must be completed before Professional Standing Interview.
(Semester 3-4)


Praxis I and Fundamental Subjects must be completed before Professional Semester. 
(Semester #6)

   

3. Professional Semester Admission

  • Elementary Education Portfolio Evaluation
  • Completed course work
  • 3.0 GPA
  • Clearances
  • Praxis: Foundamental Subjects

Qualifies students for professional semester

   

During Professional Semester or Early Childhood Block, the Elementary Education Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment test must be completed and the documentation must be shown to the Field Experiences Office. 
(Semester #7)

   

4. Student Teaching Admission

  • Successful completion of pro-sem course work and field evaluation
  • Praxis: Passing scores on all required exams
  • GPA 3.0

Qualifies students for student teaching


     
   

5. Completion of Certification Program

  • Student teaching evaluation by coop and supervisor
  • PDE field evaluation
  • Impact on student learning project
  • Dispositions assessment
  • GPA 3.0
  • Professional portfolio evaluation
  • Exit Survey
     
   

6. Post Graduation
